Job Title: Refugee Resettlement Case Worker
About the Role: As a Social Adjustment Services Case Worker, you'll play a pivotal role within the Refugee Services team, providing vital case management services to address diverse client needs. This position offers a unique opportunity to assist individuals in accessing public benefits, medical care, emergency services, and cultural adjustment support.
Pay Rate: $22/hour
Main Responsibilities:
- Collaborate closely with Refugee Services (RS) staff to identify and address clients' barriers to self-sufficiency.
- Conduct proactive outreach efforts to enroll clients in the Social Adjustment Program.
- Enter client information accurately into the RS database and ClientTrack System.
- Document all client activities comprehensively in case files and the RS database and ClientTrack System, adhering to program guidelines.
- Provide information, referrals, and hands-on assistance to clients to address various needs effectively.
- Assist clients in applying for public benefits such as Food Stamps, Medicaid, RMA, CHIP, Gold Card, SSI, and Emergency benefits.
- Support clients with medical appointments, accompanying them to doctor visits, obtaining medications, and ensuring follow-up care.
- Regularly follow up with clients and report their progress to the supervisor and Refugee Services Staff.
- Refer refugee families to appropriate programs such as Employment, Match Grant, RCA, and ESL.
- Assess clients facing special challenges and make suitable referrals to foster self-sufficiency.
- Maintain detailed case files for each client served, documenting all activities in accordance with program guidelines.
- Compile and submit reports as required by program guidelines.
- Provide interpretation services and transportation assistance to clients as necessary.
- Arrange airport pickups for refugees when needed.
- Perform any other duties as assigned.
Qualifications, Skills & Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree required.
- Preferred: Two years of experience in case management or working with refugee/immigrant populations.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Fluency in one of the refugee languages (Dari, Pashto, or Spanish) required.
- Ability to thrive in a diverse office environment, serving clients from various backgrounds.
- Energetic, self-motivated team player.
- Intermediate to advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint).
- High degree of independent judgment, flexibility, and problem-solving skills.
- Flexibility to work a schedule that may include some late nights and weekends.
- Willingness and ability to drive a 12-passenger van.
- Must possess a valid driver’s license and automobile liability insurance.
