Position: Resettlement and Placement Case Worker

About the Role:
As a member of the Refugee Services Team, the Resettlement and Placement Case Worker plays a crucial role in facilitating the resettlement process for individuals and families seeking refuge. With a focus on providing comprehensive support, this role involves working closely with clients to develop tailored service plans aimed at fostering self-sufficiency. The Case Worker will manage a caseload of approximately 150 clients annually, ensuring the delivery of core services within prescribed timeframes while adhering to program guidelines.
Key Responsibilities:
- Coordinate airport pickups for refugee families upon their arrival.
- Conduct resettlement orientations and collaborate with clients to craft personalized service plans addressing their unique needs, challenges, and aspirations for self-sufficiency.
- Proactively follow up with clients to monitor progress on service plans, employing independent judgment to address obstacles hindering self-sufficiency.
- Assess refugee family situations and make appropriate referrals to employment, match grant, RCA, ESL, and other relevant programs.
- Conduct intake procedures for Special Immigrant Visa Holders and Asylees to determine eligibility for federal Reception and Placement services, liaising with relevant authorities as needed.
- Communicate with United States Citizenship and Immigration Services on behalf of clients to resolve issues related to Employment Authorization Document delays.
- Facilitate the application process for government documents and federal/state benefits, including Food Stamps and Medicaid.
- Ensure school-aged children meet immunization requirements for enrollment and assist in their school registration.
- Provide transportation and logistical support, including delivering household items and assisting with employment-related services such as job interviews and applications.
- Advocate for refugee rights and address special client needs through appropriate referrals and interventions.
- Maintain accurate documentation of all provided services in compliance with program guidelines.
- Complete client applications accurately and in a timely manner.
- Prepare and submit required reports promptly.
Qualifications, Skills & Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree required.
- Minimum one year of experience in immigration or refugee assistance.
- Proficiency in Afghani or another refugee language preferred.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
- Strong problem-solving abilities and independent judgment.
- Flexibility to work a variable schedule, including evenings and weekends.
- Ability to lift up to 30 pounds regularly and 50 pounds occasionally.
- Valid driver’s license and automobile liability insurance required.
