The Human Resources Manager oversees all aspects of the employee lifecycle from hiring to exit including: recruitment, employee benefits, employee relations, performance evaluations and administration of Company Policies and Procedures. The ideal candidate is someone who has significant experience as a Human Resources Generalist.
Employee Relations
  • Conducts investigations when employee complaints or concerns are brought forth.
  • Monitors and advises managers and supervisors on the progressive discipline system of the organization. Monitors the implementation of a performance improvement process with non-performing employees.
  • Coaches and trains managers in their communication, feedback, recognition, and interaction responsibilities with the employees who report to them.
  • Works with HR Director to approve management recommendations for employment terminations.
  • Determines and recommends employee relations practices necessary to establish a positive employer-employee relationship and promote a high level of employee morale and motivation.
Training and Development
  • Coordinates all Human Resources training programs. Provides necessary education and materials to managers and employees including workshops and training resources.
  • Leads the implementation of the performance management system that includes performance development plans (PDPs) and performance improvement plans (PIPs).
  • Leads the implementation of the compliance training system.
  • Establishes an in-house employee training program that addresses organization’s training needs including training needs assessment, new employee onboarding or orientation, executive management development, supervisor training, succession planning, etc.
Human Resources Information Systems and Website
  • Works with HR Director to implement HRIS system.
  • Manages the development and maintenance of the Human Resources website.
Employment
  • Develops and manages recruitment and onboarding procedures.
  • Manages the recruitment for administration exempt and nonexempt personnel, and temporary employees; conducts new-employee orientations
Benefits Administration
  • Manages the administration of employee benefits programs such as retirement plans; medical, dental, vision plans; life insurance plans; temporary disability programs; and wellness programs.
  • Manages the Benefit Broker
  • Leads open enrollment, benefit orientations and other benefits training for employees and their families.
 
 
Programs and Policies
  • Oversees the implementation of Human Resources programs through Human Resources staff. Identifies opportunities for improvement and resolves problems.
  • Oversees and manages the work of reporting Human Resources staff. Encourages the ongoing development of the Human Resources staff.
  • Responsible for the employee handbook.
The Human Resources Manager assumes other responsibilities as assigned by the HR Director.
Education
  • Bachelor’s Degree required, in Human Resources, Business, or a related field preferred.
  • PHR or SPHR required.
Experience
The successful candidate will:
  • Have 8-10 years of progressive human resources experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, HR Management or similar discipline
  • Proven track record of successfully leading HR initiatives
  • Project leadership/management skills/experience
  • Be a strong, effective communicator in both oral and written communications, as well as have highly developed interpersonal communication skills. 
  • Be able to handle sensitive information and preserve its confidentiality
  • Demonstrate an attention to detail, follow through on assignments to completion, and multi-task in an environment with rapidly changing priorities.
  • Demonstrate strong time management, project management, and organizational skills.
  • Have strong knowledge of employment law at both the state and federal level.
  • Be able to see the big picture and provide useful and strategic advice across the organization
  • Be able to lead in an environment of constant change.
  • Have experience in organizational development and change management.
  • Have experience in multiple locations.
Travel
This position will require frequent travel to Baltimore, MD and overnight travel to California periodically.
