This is a remote position but does have occasional in-peron meetings. Therefore only candidates local to the DC Metro area or Baltimore will be considered.
Reporting to the Associate Director of Finance, the Financial Analyst will be an independent contributor on a team of finance and grants professionals serving the various business managers across the organization, in addition to executive leadership, finance leadership and the board. Special and ad hoc analysis will be required both from an operating budget and historical perspective, but also to evaluate managerial decision impact to credit ratings or fund management, strategic planning financing options or economic indicators for endowment allocation such as CPI. The ability to explain an analysis is as important as one’s ability to craft or develop the analysis itself. - Develop and maintain sustainable drill-down forecasting models, to include position control, revenue models, fund balances, and research expenditure projections.
- Develop a dynamic long-range plan model, with inputs from senior leadership, budget and forecasting models that can be used to support the strategic plan, financing and development efforts of individual projects, departments and the organization.
- Lead departments in the preparation of the annual operating and capital budget and provide training and support for financial questions (e.g., endowment planning, sponsored awards, and capital planning considerations).
- Manage the annual endowment and special funds allocation for all units to include the planning and annual reconciliation of its usage, following up with individual managers for the appropriate allocation of funds and to monitor spend, and prepare correcting entries to support quarterly and year end assignment of expenses.
- Responsible for the utilization of Adaptive Insights and all key inputs for the all funds budget, coordinating process with all departments and divisions submitting a budget.
- Meet with budget managers to review budgets, allocation of expenses and to monitor spending. Provide training to new managers and serve as a primary point of contact for headquarters staff requiring assistance with individual funds. Develop tools and resources to support budget managers.
- Develop scenario and situational analysis to determine the likely outcome of managerial decisions regarding financing, credit, endowment payout and strategic fund management.
- Prepare ad-hoc and quarterly P&L and financial statements in support of monitoring the budget, endowment allocation, special funds and grant activity.
- Develop ad-hoc and quarterly financial analysis, summary reports and account audits to monitor financial controls and improve oversight over restricted funds.
- Maintain attribute assignments, fund and PI index mapping using adaptive insights, NetSuite and similar tools for budget and reporting.
- Prepare and recommend journal entries associated with maintaining appropriate fund balances, and appropriate budget model allocations.
- Ensure financial compliance with Company policies and procedures and applicable legal rules and regulations in all analysis, recommendations and entries prepared.
- Design reports and dashboards for use in financial planning

BASIC JOB QUALIFICATIONS
