Job Title: Accountant (Remote for Ohio CPAs)

Pay range: $100,000 + benefits

Job Summary:
The Accountant will oversee critical accounting, banking, payroll, human resources, insurance, and financial operations for the organization. This position requires a detail-oriented CPA based in Ohio, offering remote work flexibility. Ohio CPA/residents only.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Post all journal entries at month-end and perform the month-close process.
  • Reconcile cash for all bank accounts and investigate anomalies or out-of-balances.
  • Update and adjust Work-in-Progress (WIP) schedules weekly to track revenue and identify fades.
  • Maintain balance sheet schedules and provide year-end data to reporting agencies.
  • Process payroll for office and field employees, ensuring timely tax deposits.
  • Monitor and implement changes to tax tables, 401(k) limits, and unemployment rates.
  • Ensure compliance with prevailing wage updates and update accounting systems accordingly.
  • Reconcile paychecks, track open drafts, and resolve payroll discrepancies.
  • Negotiate and evaluate insurance policies annually, including health, liability, and workers’ compensation.
  • Oversee new hire documentation, ensuring legal compliance and proper record-keeping.
  • Review and sign pay applications and adjust billing items as needed.
  • Lead annual audits for 401(k), ESOP, general liability insurance, and other compliance requirements.
  • Maintain vendor relationships, negotiate terms, and resolve accounts payable issues.
  • Track and manage fixed assets, including depreciation and gains on sales.
  • Prepare quarterly board meeting reports, annual budgets, and 5-year financial projections.

Requirements:

  • Must be a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) licensed in Ohio.
  • Minimum of 5 years of accounting experience, preferably in a construction or project-based environment.
  • Strong knowledge of payroll processing, tax compliance, and accounting principles.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and accounting software.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with keen attention to detail.
