Location: Houston, TX (Remote - must be able to start work at 7:30 a.m. Central time most days)
Job Type: Full-time, Direct-Hire
Compensation: Up to $125,000 base salary, plus performance-based bonus and a fantastic annual retirement contribution (15+% of total compensation)
About the Role:
We are seeking a Cloud Platform Engineer to join our client’s expanding centralized DevOps team based in Houston, TX. This full-time, direct-hire position offers the flexibility to work fully remote from anywhere within the United States, provided you can start around 7:30 a.m. Central time most days. Please note: We are unable to consider candidates requiring immigration sponsorship or work authorization now or in the future (including F1-OPT, F1-CPT, J-1, etc.) for this role.
As a Cloud Platform Engineer, you will play a key role in supporting our client’s modernization efforts by building and managing a secure, scalable, and robust Azure DevOps cloud platform. You’ll design, implement, and operate platform solutions that enable business units to deliver innovative solutions more efficiently and effectively. This is a unique opportunity to work on complex projects, enhance CI/CD pipelines, and integrate advanced technologies into the infrastructure.
What You’ll Do:
Cloud Platform Management
  • Design, implement, and manage Azure DevOps-based cloud platform services.
  • Collaborate with development and infrastructure teams to ensure the platform meets evolving business and technical needs.
Monitoring & Maintenance
  • Use advanced monitoring tools to ensure high availability, security, and performance of cloud platform technologies.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve complex platform issues, minimizing downtime.
Integration & Automation
  • Design and implement CI/CD pipelines to integrate tools, services, and APIs to streamline development workflows.
  • Utilize Infrastructure as Code (IaC) principles to automate resource provisioning, scaling, and configuration.
Optimization
  • Continuously analyze platform usage to identify cost savings, performance improvements, and scalability opportunities.
Project Leadership & Strategy
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to define and execute the strategic roadmap for DevOps platform evolution.
  • Deliver technical presentations and documentation to align teams on best practices and future goals.
Documentation & Learning
  • Maintain detailed documentation of system architecture, configurations, and operational procedures.
  • Stay updated with the latest tools and trends in cloud engineering and DevOps to bring cutting-edge solutions to the team.

What We’re Looking For:
Education:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field (preferred).
Experience:
  • Minimum 3-4 years of hands-on experience managing Azure DevOps Services in an enterprise-sized environment.
  • 6-8 years of progressive technical experience preferred, with expertise in cloud engineering projects, including designing and managing CI/CD pipelines, deploying automated infrastructure, and supporting large-scale systems.
  • At least 3 years of application and/or data solution development experience preferred.
Technical Skills:
  • Proficiency with tools and technologies such as Terraform, Python, and PowerShell for automation and scripting.
  • Advanced understanding of CI/CD methodologies and Azure DevOps pipelines.
  • Experience with containerization technologies (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes) and related orchestration tools is highly desirable.
  • Knowledge of network security, cloud compliance standards, and disaster recovery best practices.
Communication Skills:
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills to engage effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders, particularly in a remote environment.
  • Ability to clearly document processes, share technical strategies, and collaborate across teams.
Project Experience:
  • Proven success in projects requiring end-to-end automation, cloud migration, or modernization.
  • Experience working in multi-cloud or hybrid environments is a plus.
Soft Skills:
  • Strong problem-solving abilities to diagnose and resolve complex technical challenges efficiently.
  • A team-oriented mindset with a proactive approach to contributing to shared goals.
