Compensation: $170,000 – $190,000 base salary

Position Summary
The Director of Accounting will lead the company’s financial accounting, reporting, and tax functions. Reporting to the VP of Accounting and Treasury, this individual will oversee internal and external reporting, ensure GAAP and regulatory compliance, and manage job cost, general ledger, and tax operations. The role requires strategic vision, operational discipline, and strong leadership to build and maintain systems that support both the company’s growth and regulatory integrity.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead accounting, financial controls, reporting, audit coordination, and tax compliance

  • Manage monthly and annual financial close, variance analysis, and executive reporting

  • Maintain compliance with GAAP and regulatory standards

  • Oversee internal controls and risk management practices

  • Direct external audit processes and implement corrective actions

  • Ensure accurate job cost reporting and appropriate GL coding

  • Oversee tax strategy, compliance, and planning at federal, state, and local levels

  • Support due diligence, integration, and purchase price settlement for acquisitions

  • Partner with IT and finance leaders to streamline accounting systems and ERP processes

  • Provide reporting and analytics to banks, insurers, auditors, and other external partners

  • Build and lead a high-performing accounting team with clear KPIs and development plans

  • Champion continuous improvement and innovation within the finance function

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting (Master’s or MBA preferred)

  • Active CPA required

  • 15+ years of progressive accounting experience; public accounting background preferred

  • Familiarity with percentage-of-completion accounting

  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint

  • Experience with construction or project-based ERP software

  • Excellent leadership, analytical, and communication skills
