A growing commercial building automation company located just northeast of Madison is seeking a Director of Finance with 5–7 years of progressive accounting experience and a strong background in financial operations, reporting, and team collaboration. This is a full-time, permanent, W-2 opportunity focused on supporting financial leadership and strategic initiatives. Candidates must be onsite and have experience in or a strong understanding of the construction industry.

The company specializes in designing, building, and servicing integrated HVAC and building automation systems for complex commercial projects across healthcare, office, municipal, high-rise, and industrial sectors. Key Responsibilities:

  • Direct and support financial operations including reporting, banking, 401(k), payments, and strategic planning to assist the President with forecasting and growth initiatives

  • Oversee ESOP administration and education; manage IT functions and contractors; collaborate with HR on insurance, benefits, and compliance

  • Partner with department heads on cross-functional initiatives such as recruitment, sales support, and operational alignment

  • Maintain integrity in managing proprietary information, company systems, and digital assets

  • Support company culture and collaboration through participation in internal projects and events

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Business, or related field (Master’s preferred)

  • 5–7 years of accounting experience with progressive responsibilities

  • Advanced Microsoft Office skills and ability to manage multiple priorities under tight deadlines

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with a polished professional presence

  • Strategic thinker with analytical problem-solving and financial insight capabilities

  • Consistent work history (minimum of 3 years per employer)

  • Must be a U.S. citizen or Green Card holder
