Salary Range: $105,000 – $130,000 per year
Job Type: Full-Time
Schedule: 8-hour shift | Daytime | Field-based with office coordination


Position Overview
We are seeking a Licensed Construction Layout Surveyor  to join a fast-growing team supporting concrete and civil construction projects throughout the Central Ohio region. This role is ideal for a detail-oriented surveyor with experience in site development, layout staking, and geospatial data collection. You will play a critical role in ensuring accuracy and alignment on active job sites while helping to integrate field data with engineering and construction planning teams.


Key Responsibilities

  • Perform layout staking for foundations, utilities, grading, and structural features on active construction sites

  • Interpret site plans and coordinate with project managers and field superintendents to confirm layout requirements

  • Use total stations, robotic instruments, GPS, and related tools to collect and stake field data

  • Generate and interpret 2D/3D CAD files to support site layout accuracy

  • Assist in reviewing plats, deed descriptions, and construction documents for field use

  • Maintain and calibrate survey equipment regularly to ensure accuracy and efficiency

  • Train and mentor junior technicians in field procedures and safety practices

  • Ensure site safety and compliance with surveying best practices and job site protocols

  • Review collected data for completeness and coordinate with office staff for processing and drafting

  • Contribute to ongoing improvement of layout workflows and quality control procedures


Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Surveying, Geomatics, Civil Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience)

  • Licensed Professional Surveyor (State of Ohio – active status)

  • 1+ years of hands-on experience with AutoCAD, Civil 3D, and GPS-based survey tools

  • Proficient in reading and interpreting construction drawings, blueprints, and site plans

  • Familiarity with tools like Trimble Business Center, Carlson Survey, or Topcon Magnet

  • Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate across construction, engineering, and project teams

  • Valid driver’s license; local field travel required (no regular overnight travel)


Preferred Experience

  • Background in construction staking or layout for concrete and sitework projects

  • Experience with 3D modeling or photogrammetry a plus

  • Comfortable working in dynamic outdoor environments and job site conditions
