Project Accountant – Architecture / Engineering / Construction (AEC)
Location: Atlanta, GA
Salary: Around $70,000

We’re hiring a Project Accountant in Atlanta! Join a collaborative team where you’ll manage project finances, support pricing strategies, and ensure critical data remains accurate and up to date. If you have 3+ years of AEC experience and enjoy working with both numbers and people, this role is a great fit.

This is a full-time, direct-hire position reporting to the Accounting Manager. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, collaborative, and adaptable, with strong project accounting experience—preferably in the Architecture, Engineering, and Construction (AEC) industry.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Work closely with Project Managers to oversee all financial aspects of active projects, including billing, invoicing, and revenue recognition

  • Assist with project setup and ensure accurate financial data and configurations within Acumatica

  • Maintain and update project records, contracts, and budgets

  • Monitor budgets and expenses, providing timely reports and updates

  • Accurately allocate time and resources across multiple projects

  • Conduct financial analysis to support pricing strategies and proposals

  • Manage project closeout, including unbilled items, revenue budgets, balances, and discrepancy resolution

  • Coordinate with Project Coordinators to ensure smooth financial operations throughout the project lifecycle

Qualifications:

  • Associate’s degree in Business, Accounting, Administration, or a related field

  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience in project accounting, ideally within the AEC industry

  • Proficient in Excel (pivot tables, VLOOKUPs, formulas); advanced Excel skills preferred

  • Experience with Acumatica strongly preferred; familiarity with Oracle, Deltek, or Textura is a plus

Skills & Competencies:

  • Solid understanding of GAAP and accounting best practices

  • Experience managing general ledgers, journal entries, and account reconciliations

  • Strong communication skills with the ability to present financial data clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders

  • Excellent organizational and interpersonal abilities

  • Capable of multitasking and succeeding in a fast-paced, evolving environment

  • Flexible and open to adopting new technologies and adapting to regulatory changes
