HR Generalist

Job Title: HR Generalist – Remote

Location: Remote - Ohio Based (EST time Zone required)

Overview
A mid-sized healthcare organization is seeking a detail-oriented and proactive HR Generalist to join its Human Resources team. This position will play a key role in supporting employees and managers across the organization, with a primary focus on employee relations, benefits administration, and onboarding. The HR Generalist will serve as a trusted resource for staff, helping ensure compliance with policies and fostering a positive employee experience.

Key Responsibilities

  • Serve as a first point of contact for employee relations issues, providing guidance, coaching, and support to managers and employees.

  • Conduct investigations into workplace concerns and recommend appropriate solutions in alignment with company policies and employment law.

  • Oversee benefits administration, including enrollments, changes, and employee questions related to health, dental, vision, and other plans.

  • Manage onboarding processes for new hires, including offer letters, background checks, orientation scheduling, and employee paperwork.

  • Maintain accurate and confidential employee records within HR systems.

  • Partner with payroll to ensure benefit deductions and employment changes are processed correctly.

  • Support HR compliance with federal and state regulations, including FMLA, ADA, and EEO requirements.

  • Assist in the development and delivery of HR communications, training materials, and policy updates.

  • Participate in projects aimed at improving HR processes, employee engagement, and organizational effectiveness.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field (or equivalent experience).

  • 3+ years of experience in an HR Generalist or similar role, preferably within healthcare or a highly regulated industry.

  • Strong knowledge of HR best practices, employment law, and benefits administration.

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to build trust and maintain confidentiality.

  • Experience managing employee relations cases, conducting investigations, and supporting managers through performance management.

  • Proficiency with HRIS platforms and Microsoft Office Suite.

  • Ability to work independently in a fully remote environment while staying connected to the HR team and organizational priorities.

Preferred Qualifications

  • PHR or SHRM-CP certification.

  • Experience supporting remote or multi-state workforces.

  • Prior experience with healthcare benefits or large group plans.
