About the Opportunity
A global renewable energy company is seeking an experienced Plant Manager to oversee the launch and management of a new start-up facility near Bardstown, Kentucky. This is a hands-on leadership role reporting directly to the U.S. General Manager, offering full accountability for site operations, P&L management, and strategic execution. The selected candidate will help build and lead a high-performing team in a brand-new state-of-the-art facility while shaping a data-driven and safety-focused culture.
This position offers relocation support for qualified candidates within approximately two hours of Bardstown or those seeking to return to Central Kentucky and enjoy a more rural lifestyle.
Key Responsibilities
• Lead the day-to-day operations of the site, ensuring safe, compliant, and efficient processes aligned with corporate standards.
• Manage the full Profit & Loss accountability for the site, including budgeting, cost control, and financial reporting.
• Develop and implement site strategies, KPIs, and performance metrics to ensure business goals are achieved or exceeded.
• Establish a culture of operational excellence, data-driven decision-making, and continuous improvement.
• Oversee all site personnel, fostering collaboration, accountability, and professional growth across departments.
• Serve as the primary contact for third-party relationships, regulatory bodies, and corporate stakeholders.
• Coordinate with global leadership and support teams to align on performance standards, policies, and objectives.
• Participate in the on-call escalation process and ensure effective emergency response readiness.
• Travel to the company’s UK facility for a 1–2 month training and knowledge transfer program prior to site start-up.
Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering from an accredited institution.
• Minimum 10 years of related operations experience, including at least 5 years in leadership roles managing teams of 10+ people.
• Proven background in manufacturing, production, or renewable energy sectors.
• Demonstrated experience managing P&L, operational budgets, and performance metrics.
• Strong SHEQ (Safety, Health, Environment, and Quality) compliance knowledge and commitment to safe work practices.
• Ability to lead cross-functional teams, mentor staff, and promote accountability and performance excellence.
• Excellent data analysis, reporting, and problem-solving abilities with advanced Excel and presentation skills.
• Must have reliable transportation and be open to living and working in a smaller community setting.
• U.S. Citizenship or Green Card required.
Preferred Qualifications
• Experience in anaerobic digestion, renewable fuels, or chemical process manufacturing.
• Knowledge of Lean, 5S, and process optimization methodologies.
• Experience in EHS compliance, PSM site operations, and PLC control systems.
• Background in engineering maintenance management and site commissioning or start-up.
• Prior exposure to malt distillation, co-production, or agricultural-based manufacturing is a plus.
Compensation and Benefits
• Salary Range: $130,000 – $140,000 per year
• Bonus: Up to 15% annual performance-based bonus
