Overview
A leading manufacturer of pharmacy automation systems is seeking a Field Support Engineer to join its technical service team. This role provides hands on service, repair, installation, and customer support for advanced electromechanical equipment in pharmacy settings. The position requires regional travel, a strong mechanical and electrical aptitude, and the ability to work independently at customer sites.
Responsibilities
• Perform troubleshooting, repair, and preventive maintenance on automated pharmacy equipment.
• Respond to service calls within established SLA timeframes to minimize downtime.
• Install, configure, and support new automation systems at customer locations.
• Train pharmacy staff on equipment operation, routine maintenance, and safety procedures.
• Document service activity, parts usage, and diagnostic results in the service management system.
• Coordinate with engineering and product support teams on complex technical issues.
• Maintain company issued tools, diagnostic equipment, laptop, phone, and service vehicle.
• Provide feedback to help improve product performance and service procedures.
• Participate in occasional after hours, weekend, or holiday coverage as needed.
• Travel regionally and complete periodic overnight trips outside the immediate area.
Required Qualifications
• Associate degree in Electronics Engineering, Mechanical Engineering Technology, Robotics Engineering, Biomedical Engineering Technology, or similar; or 3 to 5 years of field service experience.
• Hands on experience repairing electromechanical, medical, laboratory, automation, or industrial equipment.
• Working knowledge of Windows operating systems and basic networking.
• Ability to read schematics, follow wiring diagrams, and perform component level troubleshooting.
• Proficiency using multimeters, voltage and amperage testers, and mechanical hand tools.
• Strong communication and customer service skills.
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds frequently and up to 100 pounds occasionally.
• Valid driver’s license with the ability to travel regionally.
Preferred Qualifications
• Experience servicing medical or pharmacy automation equipment.
• Familiarity with XML configuration files, system imaging, or SQL.
• Prior field service background working independently at customer sites.
