Director of Nursing – Home Care
A growing Maryland home care organization is seeking an experienced Registered Nurse to lead its clinical and nursing operations.
This is a hands-on leadership opportunity for an RN with strong home care or home health experience who is ready to take ownership of clinical quality, nursing oversight, staff supervision, compliance, and client care.
The Director of Nursing will work closely with operational leadership while overseeing the clinical team and supporting continued growth of the organization.
This is not strictly an administrative position. We are looking for a nursing leader who is comfortable managing the clinical operation while remaining actively involved with clients, families, and field staff when needed.
Key Responsibilities
• Provide overall clinical leadership and nursing oversight for home care services
• Supervise and provide clinical direction to RNs, LPNs, caregivers, and other field staff
• Oversee initial nursing assessments, reassessments, plans of care, and ongoing clinical reviews
• Ensure services are delivered according to established plans of care and clinical requirements
• Monitor changes in client condition and coordinate appropriate clinical interventions
• Communicate with physicians, hospitals, rehabilitation facilities, case managers, families, and other healthcare providers
• Oversee skilled nursing services and ensure appropriate clinical standards are maintained
• Conduct or assist with home visits when clinical coverage or additional nursing support is needed
• Ensure clinical documentation is accurate, timely, and compliant with Maryland requirements
• Monitor quality of care and address clinical or field staff performance concerns
• Participate in the hiring, orientation, training, competency assessment, and ongoing development of clinical staff
• Provide clinical education and support to caregivers and families
• Assist with incident investigations, complaints, hospitalizations, changes in condition, and other clinical issues
• Maintain readiness for regulatory reviews, audits, and surveys
• Develop, implement, and maintain clinical policies, procedures, and quality standards
• Work collaboratively with operations and scheduling to ensure clients are matched with staff appropriate for their care needs
• Help develop scalable clinical processes as the organization continues to grow
Qualifications
Required:
• Active Maryland Registered Nurse license in good standing
• Previous home care or home health nursing experience
• Strong knowledge of nursing assessments, plans of care, clinical documentation, and care coordination
• Ability to supervise and provide clinical direction to nursing and field staff
• Strong communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills
• Comfortable working directly with clients and families in the home setting
• Reliable transportation and ability to travel locally for client and clinical needs
Preferred:
• Previous Director of Nursing, Clinical Director, Nursing Supervisor, RN Case Manager, or comparable leadership experience
• Experience supervising RNs, LPNs, CNAs, caregivers, or other home care staff
• Knowledge of Maryland home care regulations and compliance requirements
• Experience with Medicaid, waiver, private-duty, or community-based home care programs
• Experience with quality assurance, audits, staff competencies, and clinical policy development
Who Will Succeed in This Role?
We are looking for an RN who is equally comfortable leading people and addressing clinical needs.
The right person will be able to manage clinical operations, develop and support staff, communicate confidently with clients and families, and step in personally when a clinical situation requires additional attention.
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced home care RN, Nursing Supervisor, Clinical Manager, or Director of Nursing who wants to play an important role in the continued growth of a Maryland home care organization.
Compensation
$48.00 per hour
Compensation is negotiable based on home care experience, clinical leadership experience, and overall qualifications.
