Job Description
We are seeking a Civil Engineer Designer to join our client’s dynamic Civil Engineering Department. This role is primarily office-based with occasional field visits and is perfect for a driven professional eager to contribute to exciting projects in land planning, surveying, permitting, and landscape architecture.
Job Duties
The successful candidate will:
- Design and draft civil engineering plans from concept to final, including public and on-site drawings, along with supporting calculations.
- Perform engineering calculations, hydraulic computations, and create worksheets and spreadsheets, including TR-55, TR-20, and HEC-RAS.
- Collaborate with clients and consultants to ensure designs meet specifications and standards.
- Apply best practice design standards to meet jurisdictional and construction code requirements.
- Coordinate with jurisdictional representatives to facilitate project reviews and approvals.
- Manage project milestones, deliverables, and communicate progress with the Project Manager.
- Contribute as part of a larger development team.
- Perform other tasks as directed by the Civil Engineering Department Director.
Knowledge and Skills
Required Skills & Experience
- Proficiency in CAD, particularly Civil 3D, including surface creation, cross-section cutting, and adherence to company design standards.
- Expertise in Microsoft Word and Excel.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to handle a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent written, verbal communication, and organizational skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team.
- Professionalism in resolving conflicts and overcoming challenges.
- Willingness to work overtime when necessary to meet deadlines.
Desired Qualifications
- Undergraduate degree in civil engineering is a plus.
- Interest in pursuing Professional Engineer (PE) licensing.
- Eagerness to learn new skills and take on additional responsibilities.
