Project Accountant (Construction)
Salary: Up to $100,000


Job Summary:
We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Project Accountant to join our construction team. This role is responsible for managing financial activities across multiple construction projects, including budgeting, cost tracking, billing, and compliance. The Project Accountant will work closely with project managers, field teams, and the accounting department to support the financial health and accuracy of each project.


Key Responsibilities:
• Set up, monitor, and maintain accurate job cost records for active construction projects
• Prepare and analyze budgets, forecasts, and detailed cost reports
• Track project expenses, including labor, materials, equipment, and subcontractor costs
• Manage billing processes, including owner invoices and subcontractor payment applications
• Ensure compliance with contract terms related to retention, change orders, and lien releases
• Reconcile project accounts and support month-end and year-end closing activities
• Assist with internal and external audits by providing documentation and financial analysis
• Maintain well-organized project files in accordance with company policy


Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
• 5+ years of accounting experience, ideally in a construction or project-based setting
• Solid understanding of construction cost accounting, billing, and reporting practices
• Familiarity with construction accounting software (e.g., Viewpoint) is a plus
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Bluebeam, and other financial tools
• Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
• Strong problem-solving, analytical, and communication abilities
• Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines in a fast-paced environment
• Experience managing and training other Project Accountants


Preferred Skills:
• AIA billing experience
• Understanding of contract types (Unit Price, T&M, Lump Sum)
• Knowledge of lien waiver processes, certified payroll, and construction compliance documentation
