Executive Director (Hybrid)

Pittsburgh, PA

Executive Director – Non-Profit
Pittsburgh, PA 15222
Salary: 140000

Our client, a respected nonprofit serving vulnerable populations across the Pittsburgh region, is seeking a mission-driven, strategic Executive Director to lead the organization into its next chapter of impact and growth. This opportunity is ideal for a visionary leader who thrives in both high-level strategy and hands-on execution and who is passionate about increasing access to healthcare for underserved communities.

Each year, the organization hosts a large-scale, two-day free clinic that provides dental, vision, and hearing services to approximately 1500 patients, supported by a large volunteer base of clinical and non-clinical professionals. With strong community backing and plans to expand with “mini” clinics in rural areas, this is a pivotal time to step into a newly created leadership role and help shape the organization’s future.

  • Partner with the Board of Directors to execute a multi-year strategic vision

  • Lead staff, volunteers, and stakeholders in promoting collaboration and service excellence

  • Represent the organization publicly, including in the media and at community events

  • Oversee the planning and execution of the annual flagship clinic

  • Support the development and launch of smaller rural satellite clinics

  • Improve operational efficiency through enhanced policies, systems, and data collection

Community and Government Partnerships

  • Establish follow-up care pathways and advocate for continuing education credit opportunities

  • Promote systemic healthcare access improvements for underserved populations

Fundraising, Budgeting, and Financial Management

  • Lead fundraising strategies including grant writing, donor engagement, and sponsorships

  • Manage financial planning and oversight with support from accounting professionals and the Board

  • Ensure compliance and donor stewardship for all contributions

Board Governance and Stakeholder Relations

  • Act as the liaison between the Board, Advisory Committee, and operational staff

  • Deliver regular updates, reports, and strategic insights to support Board effectiveness

  • Maintain legal compliance and ethical standards in all nonprofit operations

Ideal Candidate Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in nonprofit leadership, public health, business administration, or related field required; master’s degree preferred

  • Minimum of 5 to 7 years in executive or senior-level nonprofit leadership, ideally within healthcare or community-based services

  • Proven success in donor relations, fundraising strategy, and grant management

  • Strong financial and budgeting skills with fiscal accountability

  • Excellent relationship-building and communication skills with diverse stakeholders

  • Deep commitment to health equity and nonprofit mission-driven leadership

  • Experience with federal health programs or public health policy is a plus
