HIPAA Compliance Program Manager

Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced senior HIPAA program manager for a fully remote, temp-to-perm position. This role is responsible for investigating allegations of privacy violations and ensuring compliance with HIPAA and other regulatory requirements. The position requires strong investigatory, analytical, and communication skills, along with the ability to interact with individuals at all levels. Candidates must be fluent in Spanish and English and able to work 8 AM – 5 PM PST, with the understanding that some work may be required outside of their time zone due to member locations.

Key Responsibilities

• Respond to all allegations of privacy violations, conducting investigations involving members, providers, and employees
• Analyze data, contract terms, and other documentation to substantiate and determine the validity of privacy allegations, identifying potential patterns
• Apply regulatory and contractual requirements as well as internal policies and procedures throughout the investigation process
• Perform data analysis, research, and review privacy violations to identify trends, patterns, and outliers
• Conduct interviews to gather additional evidence for investigations
• Research and investigate member and health plan cases through internal Alertline
• Communicate with members, providers, and internal stakeholders regarding investigative findings and other privacy issues
• Compile, report, and present privacy incidents to the appropriate regulatory agencies
• Maintain documentation integrity for all privacy incidents, ensuring case management system records are accurate for legal and compliance purposes
• Prepare reports for the board of directors and other leadership as needed
• Develop and implement corrective action plans based on investigative findings, line of business, severity of issue, regulatory compliance requirements, and health plan exposure
• Establish and maintain relationships with key business units within specific product lines and geographic regions

Qualifications

• Minimum of five years of experience in the healthcare industry
• Bachelor’s degree required; graduate degree preferred or an equivalent combination of education and experience
• Proven ability to research and interpret regulatory requirements
• Strong investigatory skills with the ability to objectively analyze and determine risk, develop solutions, and separate facts from opinions
• Effective interpersonal skills with a strong customer service focus and ability to interact with individuals at all levels
• Excellent oral and written communication skills
• Intermediate to advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook), SharePoint, and web-based research tools
• Strong logical, analytical, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills
• Ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities, and meet tight deadlines
• High ethical standards and a professional image with a detail-oriented and self-motivated approach
• Experience working across geographic and functional boundaries in a collaborative, team-oriented environment
• Fluent in Spanish and English

Work Environment

• 100 percent remote position with candidates 
• Compensation range of $40 to $45 per hour
• Must be available to work 8 AM – 5 PM PST, with flexibility to accommodate different time zones as needed
