Location: Rockville, MD

Salary: $180,000 - $200,000 + Exceptional Benefits

Position Overview:
We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Construction Claims and Mediation Specialist to join our dynamic team. This role involves developing, monitoring, and analyzing construction schedules, preparing and negotiating claims, and providing expert testimony when needed. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of construction project controls, legal aspects of construction claims, and the ability to communicate complex technical information to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform planned versus as-built schedule analysis to identify deviations and implement corrective actions.
  • Analyze schedule delays and quantify their impact on project timelines and costs.
  • Develop and implement schedule recovery plans to address delays and other issues.
  • Propose and manage strategies for accelerating project timelines when necessary.
  • Prepare and analyze construction claims, including time impact and change order analyses.
  • Lead and support negotiations for change orders and claims settlements.
  • Prepare expert reports, graphics, and exhibits; provide expert witness testimony in mediation, arbitration, or court proceedings.
  • Develop and manage Critical Path Method schedules to ensure project timelines are met.
  • Create baseline schedules that meet contract requirements and provide a roadmap for project execution.
  • Integrate resource and cost data into project schedules to track project performance and budget adherence.
  • Continuously monitor project progress and update schedules to reflect actual performance.
  • Identify, quantify, and mitigate schedule-related risks.
  • Analyze construction project cost reports, labor distribution reports, and other project accounting information.

Qualifications:

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or a related field. Advanced degree preferred.
  • Experience: Minimum of 5-10 years of experience in construction scheduling, claims analysis, and mediation. Prior experience in a consulting role is highly desirable.
  • Skills:
    • Proficiency in industry-recognized scheduling software (e.g., Primavera P6, Microsoft Project).
    • Strong understanding of CPM scheduling principles and techniques.
    • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
    • Exceptional written and verbal communication abilities.
    • Ability to work collaboratively with project teams and clients.
    • Detail-oriented with a strong commitment to accuracy.
    • Field construction experience is strongly preferred.
    • Preparation of expert reports for trial.
  • Certifications: PMP, PSP, or other relevant certifications are a plus; AACEI and PMI certifications are preferred.
