Job Description: Accounting and Operations Manager

Location: Germantown, MD, Montgomery County
(APPLICANTS MUST LIVE IN MD/DC/VA - as this is not full remote)

Position Overview: We are in search of a skilled Accounting and Operations Manager to oversee our accounting functions and manage a team of two accounting clerks. This individual will play a crucial role in the efficiency and financial integrity of our company.


Financial Management and Reporting:
Oversee all financial transactions and manage the company's general ledger.
Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
Analyze financial data and present financial reports in an accurate and timely manner.
Ensure compliance with all local, state, and federal financial requirements and guidelines.

Team Management:
Directly manage, mentor, and oversee two accounting clerks.
Coordinate and review the work of the accounting clerks.
Provide ongoing feedback and conduct performance reviews.

Operational Efficiency:
Implement and monitor accounting policies and procedures to improve operational efficiency.
Collaborate with other departments to streamline functions and improve accuracy.
Stay updated on industry trends and best practices to ensure the company's accounting practices remain competitive.

Budgeting and Forecasting:
Assist in the preparation of the annual budget and forecasts.
Compare the actual financial results to the budget and analyze variances.

Other Duties:
Engage with external auditors and manage the audit process.
Implement and maintain internal controls over financial transactions.
Perform other related duties as required or assigned.

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
Minimum of 5 years of professional accounting experience with a history of progressively increased responsibility.
Proven experience in managing a team.
Strong understanding of accounting software and Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel.
Exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal.

Competitive Salary: $75,000 - $80,000, based on experience.
