Summer Teacher

Essential functions of the job may include but are not limited to the following:

  • Plan, prepare and deliver lesson plans and instructional materials that facilitate active learning.

  • Develops schemes of work, lesson plans and tests that are in accordance with established procedures.

  •  Instruct and monitor students in the use of learning materials and equipment.

  • Use relevant technology to support and differentiate instruction.

  • Manage student behavior in the classroom by establishing and enforcing rules and procedures.

  • Maintain discipline in accordance with the rules and disciplinary systems of the school.

  • Provide appropriate feedback on work.

  • Encourage and monitor the progress of individual students and use information to adjust teaching strategies.

  •  Maintain accurate and complete records of students' progress and development.

  • Update all necessary records accurately and completely as required by laws, district policies and school regulations.

  • Prepare required reports on students and activities.

  • Participate in department, school, district and parent meetings.

  • Communicate necessary information regularly to students, colleagues and parents regarding student progress and student

    needs.

  • Establish and communicate clear objectives for all learning activities.

    This is the requirements for the Teacher role:
     
    Education and Experience Qualifications Required:

  • Must be at least eighteen (18) years of age and shall meet one of the following qualification requirements:
  • a.       Have earned, an associate’s or more advanceddegree from an institution accredited by an agencyrecognized by the U.S. Secretary of Education or theCouncil for Higher Education Accreditation, with amajor in early childhood education, early childhooddevelopment, child and family studies, or a closelyrelated field;
     
    OR
    b.       Have earned an associate’s or more advanced degree from an institution accredited by an agency recognized by the U.S. Secretary of Education or the Council for Higher Education Accreditation, with a major in a field other than early childhood education, early childhood development, or child and family studies, earned at least twenty-four (24) semester credit hours, or its recognized equivalent, from an institution accredited by an agency recognized by the U.S. Secretary of Education or the Council for Higher Education Accreditation in early childhood education, early childhood development, child and family studies, or a closely related field, and have at least one (1) year of supervised occupational experience working with children in a licensed District of Columbia Child Development Center or its equivalent in another jurisdiction;
     
    OR
    c.       Have earned at least forty-eight (48) semestercredit hours, or its recognized equivalent, from aninstitution accredited by an agency recognized bythe U.S. Secretary of Education or the Council forHigher Education Accreditation, of which fifteen (15)semester hours, or its recognized equivalent, shall bein early childhood education, early childhooddevelopment, or child and family studies, and hasat least at least two (2) years of supervised occupational experience working with children in a licensed District of Columbia Child Development Center or its equivalent in another jurisdiction; provided that he or she earns an associate’s degree as described in (a) or (b) within four (4) years of the effective date of these regulations;
     
    OR
    d.       Have earned a high school diploma or its equivalent and a current Child Development Associate (CDA) credential, which specifies that the individual is qualified for the assigned age classification; provided that he or she earns an associate degree in compliance with (a) or (b) within four
    (4) years of the effective date of these regulations.
  • Experience in behavior management and/or working with students with disabilities a plus.
  • Previous experience with “Creative” curriculum desired.
