Position Overview: We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Accountant to join our reputable firm specializing in providing comprehensive consulting services to small businesses. The Senior Accountant will play a pivotal role in managing all aspects of accounting for our business and also provide some assistance with our clients, including General Ledger maintenance, reconciliations, preparation of financial statements, business analysis, payroll processing, accounts payable management, and ensuring the accuracy and compliance of financial data. The ideal candidate will possess strong technical expertise, a deep understanding of accounting principles, and the ability to provide strategic financial insights to our clients.
Responsibilities:
- Oversee and manage the entire accounting process for our firm internally as well as a portfolio of business clients.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date General Ledgers for clients, recording all financial transactions and ensuring adherence to accounting standards.
- Perform bank and account reconciliations to verify accuracy and completeness of financial data.
- Prepare financial statements, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements, ensuring compliance with relevant regulations and standards.
- Conduct thorough business analysis to identify opportunities for financial optimization and improved decision-making for clients.
- Process payroll and manage payroll-related compliance for clients, including tax calculations and reporting.
- Handle accounts payable functions, ensuring accurate and timely payment processing and adherence to payment terms.
- Collaborate with clients to understand their specific accounting needs and provide tailored financial insights and recommendations.
- Assist in the preparation of tax-related documentation, working closely with tax professionals to ensure accurate and timely tax filings.
- Keep abreast of industry developments, regulations, and best practices to ensure clients' financial operations are in compliance.
- Mentor and guide junior team members, offering support and knowledge sharing to enhance overall team performance.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. CPA certification is a plus
- Proven experience (typically 3+ years) working in accounting roles, preferably in a local or regional CPA firm or similar environment.
- In-depth knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and financial reporting standards.
