The Transcriptionist performs a variety of tasks related to the transcribing, maintenance, and updating of Public Health Information (PHI) for the entire clinic. The employee must work collaboratively with all Clinical staff as well as Office staff in an effort to effectively and properly transcribe, maintain, and distribute PHI as deemed necessary under APMA and HIPAA guidelines, exhibiting flexibility and a “can do” attitude. Accuracy and effective time management are the key priorities in this position requiring the Transcriptionist to serve as a point of contact with other internal departments related to the transcribing of any/all necessary PHI; all with the goal of fostering an environment which promotes ease, trust and safety of the PHI.
Major Duties and Responsibilities:
Transcribing of all PHI as dictated by internal staff; ensuring compliance with APMA and HIPAA guidelines. Also, to include the transcribing of any phone messages as required.
Responsible for the review and verification of transcribed documents for correct order, identity, and accuracy of the document’s contents.
Scanning of all paper documents (health record or administrative) when appropriate.
Answering and making calls, retrieving messages as needed.
Scanning/faxing/printing/mailing of any progress notes/IME reports as deemed necessary.
